by Kelleigh Stevenson
With Homecoming peeking around the corner, freshman and seniors alike are waiting for the day. So, before October 18 actually comes, here are ten ways to survive Homecoming!
- Dress sensibly! Wear or bring flats so that your feet don’t hurt and make sure your outfit of choice is neither to warm or to cold.
- Find friends! Nothing beats having someone to hang out with, even if you don’t have a date. Take one of your best friends and have a good time.
- Bring hairbands. When you're dancing or even just sitting surrounded by a bunch of people, it’ll get hot- so make sure to have something to keep your hair back!
- Purses- go small or not at all. Unless you’re making someone hold your stuff, bring the necessities- your cell phone and wallet. Hairbands can be kept on your wrist and cell phones and spare cash can be tucked in shoes, pockets… whatever you have!
- Be the life of the party! Are things going dull? Make a song choice, grab some friends and dance on the floor, or make your own party. Never let a party die- just bring it to life!
- Remember- you don’t have to stay the whole time. Make sure you have someone ready to take you home if you wind up being ready to leave before anyone else.
- Don’t let others take away your fun. If you see someone doing something they shouldn’t, intervene. It’ll be no fun if your best friend gets in trouble for have something like a flask or cigarettes, so be the bigger person and tell them no.
- Going along with number seven, don’t do something you’ll regret! It may not be something you think about right away, but peer pressure is everywhere. Think before you act!
- Don’t be disappointed if something doesn’t turn out the way you planned. Some things happen and everyone can move on and enjoy the night! Push everything from your mind and focus on-
- Having fun! That is the best way to survive Homecoming. If you’re a new freshman, nervous about your first High School dance, or a senior anxiously awaiting to spend the night with your date and friends- having fun is key. As long as you focus on making it one of the best nights you’ve ever had, nothing can go wrong.
