Mr. Mustang 2015
By Hannah Vislocky
The 2015 Mr. Mustang Male Beauty Pageant occurred April 17, 2015 at 6:30 in the High School Auditorium.
This year’s show was sponsored by the West Perry Pioneer Yearbook Staff, and featured six contestants.
This year’s panel of judges included Mrs. Guido, Mrs. Reeder, Mr. Hall, and our homecoming queen, Natalie Crull, who was accompanied by her mother. The Masters of Ceremonies for this year’s show were Hannah Vislocky and Emily Morgan, and Lights & Sound were directed by Patrick Guyer and Shian Knouse.
Michael Comp, Joseph Dailey, Cory Garbrick, Francisco-Gonzalez Lopez, Cole Lesh, and Samuel (Paul) Wagner were the contestants in this year’s pageant. They participated in three categories: outfit of choice, talent, and question & answer.
In the outfit of choice category, the contestants chose and modeled an outfit that they believed positively reflected their personality. The category was judged on crowd appeal, appropriateness in the reason for their choice, and overall appearance.
In the second category, talent, the boys each performed a talent. They were all judged on crowd appeal, confidence/stage presence, and overall performance. Michael Comp told jokes for his talent, Joseph Dailey sang Every Breaking Wave by U2 and was accompanied by Liz Groff on the piano, Cory Garbrick performed an interpretive dance to the children’s book The Hungry Caterpillar, Francisco Gonzalez and Cole Lesh performed a workout dance together to the song Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper, and Paul Wagner closed the talent section by playing Kelsey’s Medley, a song he compiled, on the piano.
The final category the contestants participated in was the question and answer. Each contestant randomly pulled a question from the crown and had to answer that question within a minute. Their answers were judged on crowd appeal, confidence, and relevancy/focus.
While the judges deliberated and tallied their votes, Cory Garbrick gave a spoke about the dangers of texting and driving.
The 2015 Runner Up was Paul Wagner, and Cory Garbrick was crowned Mr. Mustang 2015.
