With a Bang, not a Whimper

Caitlyn Campbell, a 17-year-old senior, is not very different from most of the seniors at West Perry, except for one major difference: she hasn’t let school change her views on the world.
As a small child, Caitlyn would often play with her mother, her biggest role model or watch T.V. Growing up all ever Caitlyn ever wanted to be was a race car driver, she had no idol, she simply thought that they were all cool and wanted to be just like them. Like most children, as time went by her priorities changed. Her views on life developed and she realized there was more to the world other than racing cars.
Caitlyn, now in her last year of high school, wants to become a variety of different things including; a radio personality, a model, and even a mortician, also known as an undertaker. As Caitlyn went on she talked about how she felt like modeling is her dream job because as a model it doesn’t matter what size you are, what you look like, or where you come from. Most photographers look for a face that will make the clothes pop, and Caitlyn feels like modeling would be perfect for her. Caitlyn believes modeling would help her break out of her shell, and prove to her bullies that she can do anything. Caitlyn has been bullied for a variety of things, like how she dresses, how she looks, and even how she views the world…with an open mind. This is what started Caitlyn on the path to discovery of what she truly wanted to be.
Caitlyn knows that becoming a model will be difficult, but that doesn’t stop her from pursuing her dream. Throughout her life Caitlyn has had plenty of people support her and help her every step of the way, but she has had an equal amount of people telling her she can’t do it. The biggest supporter in her life has been her mother, Cheryl, her boyfriend, Josh, and her close-knit group of friends. Like most people Caitlyn has had friends come and go, many of them being a negative influence on her, went off what she states, “The Deep End” and friends who just drift in and out of her life. Caitlyn believes now that she has the best friends one can ask for, even if it’s only a handful of people.
Sadly school hasn’t been easy for her; the kids who just can’t accept her for who she is, it takes a toll on her. Luckily, Caitlyn is a strong-willed person, so instead of letting the negative in her life bring her down, she picked her head up and trudged on. She didn’t let the bullies bring her down, she didn’t want to be another face in the yearbook; she didn’t want to be a Perry County regular, and she didn’t want to be left behind. She wants to make a name for herself, a name that everyone will know and remember; she wants to be known as the girl who broke away from the cliché small town girl cycle. She wants to go out with a bang, not a whimper.
