*Slight Spoiler Warning*
Sarah J. Maas published Throne of Glass, the first of many in its series, in October 2015. It was an instant hit. This novel is an award-winning New York Times best selling series and it has just been announced that it will go on to become its own TV show on Hulu. This story features Celaena Sardothien, a young assassin who is known across all of Erilea. We meet her as she serves time in Endovier, a slave labor camp, where she is forced to mine salt for the King of Adarlan. Most people die in Endovier after only a few weeks, but Celaena is able to last a year there before Dorian, the crown prince of Adarlan, brings her before him. In this meeting, Dorian promises Celaena her freedom if she agrees to be his champion in the fight to find a new royal assassin. Her competition is thieves, assassins, and warriors from all over Erilea, each one hand picked by a different member of the King's Council. If she succeeds, she must serve the King of Adarlan for three years and then she will be set free. Celaena agrees and is brought to the kingdom to train under Chaol Westfall, the Captain of the royal guard.
While she is there, she befriends not only her trainer and the Crown Prince, but also Nehemia, the Princess of a rival kingdom. Not long after the competition begins, Celaena’s competition begins to die one after another. Can Celaena find out who or what is killing the competitors? Or will she be the next victim? Also, what are these unique symbols that seem to be popping up all over the castle?
