As of late, artists in the West Perry school district have been expressing and voicing their music, poetry, and other creative works at the local open mics hosted by the Perry County Council of the Arts. The word of local open mic nights has recently spread through the school and has created an artistic window for all willing to perform. As someone who has played music and recited poetry, I speak from experience when I say it is a warm, open, and welcoming environment. The perfect place for kids and adults to come together and share a common interest in the arts.
Frequent performer Hope Blazina states “The open mics are terrifying at first, but once you start it becomes a memorable and magical experience”. The next open mic is held at JD’s in Loysville on April 26th at 6:30. If you’re looking for an accepting environment to express some of your poetry or music, the open mics are perfect for you!
