The Blood Fever was a plague that wiped out every infected adult over the age of eighteen. Like most survivors of the Blood Fever, sixteen year old Adelina Amouteru receives strange markings during her time of illness. Those whose have visible markings are known as “Malfettos”, and are seen as second class citizens. Some are able to hide their marks and live a normal life, but those like Adelina, with her scarred face and silver hair, aren’t so lucky. Some malfettos not only receive marks, but they also receive strange powers. These select few are known as “Young Elites”. Adelina is one of these few. She has the ability to trick the senses with illusions. Soon, the Inquisition Axis (A society sent out by the King to kill Young Elites) begins to target malfettos in order to try and weed out the ones with powers. That’s where the Dagger Society comes in. The Dagger Society is a group of Young Elites who help malfettos and fight back against the Inquisition. So, how does Adelina end up in the grasp of this group? Will she betray them to the Inquisition? Or will she find herself as a new member of the Dagger Society? Read The Young Elites by Marie Lu to find out more.
