Bonjour, France!
by Shawna Weiser
Almost every child wants to be a teacher when they grow up, but how many of these children have that dream as an adult? Mademoiselle Foster is one of these lucky people who have followed their childhood dream. Born and raised in Butler, Pennsylvania, Mlle Foster went to Portersville Christian School and Grove City College. When she took French 1 in high school with Mrs. Ruever, Mademoiselle Foster thought of being a teacher. In college she took French as one of her majors, she began to think more seriously of being a French teacher.
During Mademoiselle Foster’s junior year at college, she traveled to France for ten days. While in France she went to see Nantes, Normandy, Mount St. Nickel, and of course, Paris. Mlle Foster was quite clear that Paris was not particularly the best place to visit because of all the pickpocketers. Mlle Foster liked going to France because she got to practice French in a normal environment instead of in a classroom and she got to meet people who were real French-speaking people. Things Mlle Foster didn't like about going to France is mostly just the group she traveled with, which was a group of Americans who only spoke English because she had to translate everything. She would recommend world travel to everyone, but also recommends getting good tips from someone who went to that destination first.
