On Friday, September 16, West Perry's Varsity football team was home against the Middletown Raiders. The Mustang Marching band performed pre-show before the action began.
After winning the coin toss, West Perry let Middletown start out receiving. With kicker Scott Messner, number 80, out of the game, number 81 Jake Quaker took his place. Though his attempts fell out of bounds at first, he was able to get the game going. Two minutes into the first quarter, Middletown ran the ball into the end zone. In the following five minutes of the quarter, Middletown scored two more touchdowns against the Mustangs. Two of their extra-point kicks were valid, leaving the score at 0-20 at the end of the first quarter. At the beginning of the second quarter, the Raiders again took control of the ball and ran it for a touchdown, their kick attempt good. With three minutes left on the clock, they scored yet another touchdown and tried for a two-point conversion. Their attempt was good, bringing the score to 0-35 at half-time.
Half-time was adorned with the inductions into the West Perry Hall of Fame and a show by Middletown's Marching Band. Not much happened during the third quarter of the game, but during the fourth quarter Mustang number 10, Kenyon Johnson, brought in the first and only Mustang touchdown. Feeling good, the boys attempted a two-point conversion, but the try was no good. The game ended with a score of 6-35, the Raiders coming out victorious. Though the boys lost yet again, they continue to work hard every game. Key players this game include number 22, Terrence Quaker, and number 82, Joe Reisinger.
